TheCubicle Silicone Lube – Weight 2: Optimized Performance for Speedcubes

TheCubicle Weight 2 Silicone Lube is a classic and highly versatile lubricant, perfectly positioned as the second-lightest option in our silicone collection. Its primary function is to deliver a quick, smooth, and consistent turning experience, primarily by reducing friction between the puzzle pieces (corners and edges). Unlike water-based lubes that focus on pure speed and evaporate quickly, this silicone-based formula offers a superior balance of fast movement and long-lasting lubrication, ensuring your cube stays smooth and responsive for a longer period of time.

This medium-low viscosity lube is designed to soften the cube’s feel and drastically improve its movement right after application. Given its runnier consistency compared to heavier silicone oils (like Weight 5), Weight 2 excels when applied directly to the contact surfaces of the pieces, or the tracks where they glide. The product comes equipped with a convenient green dispensing tip and a black stopper, which is key for precise application into the cube’s internals.

Optimal Application Method of weight 2 cube lube

For most speedcubes, the simplest and most effective method for using Weight 2 is to focus on the pieces:

1. Preparation: Unscrew the black stopper and securely attach the green dispensing tip.

2. Application: Gently turn a layer of the cube 45 degrees. Use the narrow tip to apply 2 to 3 small drops of the lube directly into the gap, aiming for the internal tracks and the feet/stalks of the corner or edge pieces. Start conservatively, as it is much easier to add more lube than to clean an over-lubricated (gummy) cube.

3. Break-In: After applying the drops, vigorously scramble the cube for several minutes (or complete a few solves). This action quickly spreads the silicone throughout the contact surfaces, creating the desired smooth, fast feel.

4. Refinement: If the cube still feels slightly dry or slow after break-in, repeat the application process with one or two more drops until the perfect balance of speed and control is achieved.

Note: While Weight 2’s medium viscosity allows it to be used on the cube’s core, many speedcubers prefer to pair it with a heavier silicone lube (e.g., Weight 5) for the core and screws, as the thicker lube dampens spring noise and adds stability, while the Weight 2 handles the speed for the internal pieces.

Improve your cube’s speed and feel with the reliable, classic performance of Weight 2!
